ARCHIVES
The Hoover Institution Library and Archives at Stanford University acquired the papers of Eric Hoffer in 2000. The collection consists of unpublished papers, correspondence, sound recordings, photographs and personal effects, including the wooden bench on which Hoffer wrote The True Believer. Also included are the notebooks which Hoffer used to record his thoughts and those of the writers he studied.(Below is a copy of the letter Hoffer wrote when he established the "Eric Hoffer-Lili Fabilli Essay Award" at the University of California, Berkeley. The contest continues to the present day, and it is open to submissions from the faculty and students of Berkeley. The reward is $500 for the best essay written in 500 words.)
