I want to tell you of an experience I had last week when I attended the showing of the film, ADDICTION, INC… which tells about a guy-a scientist-who worked for one of the cigarette companies thirty years or so in the past.

Experimenting with the addictiveness of nicotine, he was the first to discover that if he mixed nicotine with an additive- which I cannot name-the addictiveness of nicotine was increased enormously.

, who was he doing this testing on? Rats! That’s right: Rats have a similar brain in certain ways to humans-so that when rats were given doses of nicotine and this other additive, their response was quite dramatic; and it was awesome to observe it.

These rats stimulated themselves by pressing a buzzer hun dreds of times per day. By pressing these buzzers a flow of nicotine was targeted right to their brains. They in a sense became nothing but smoke junkies.

It was from this phenomenon that one cigarette firm learned how to increase the addictiveness of nicotine many fold more times than it had been before this.

And all of this information was “whistle-blown” as proof-twenty years ago-to contradict all the heads of firms who falsely testified to Congress: “Cigarettes are really not addictive.”

I felt-after I’d viewed the film’s ending-was: ‘My God! That was twenty years past; and people still do not understand how they have been patsies in the hands of firms producing cigarettes?

Don’t people know the facts? They are suckers for nicotine. And when folks talk about the right to have a choice-if they want to keep on smoking-don’t they realize that they really have no choice?

They are like rats, so addicted that they can only keep on pressing the buzzer.’

So I say to all you smokers: ‘You are being played for nothing but big suckers. You have got to abstain from smokes. You are nothing but a slave to this cruel habit.

Picture a rat being taken for a ride as it gets its dose of nicotine-then craves much more and keeps pressing on and on and on-time after time-yet helpless.

Can you really accept that fate? Can’t you demand some fresh freedom from this serfdom? Can’t you simply refuse to be the patsy that these firms have transformed you into?

You can change your reality-you are not going to change the cigarette firms. But you have the power to rid your reliance on them.

No, it won’t be easy. But you can do what you have to. You can dislodge yourself from these drug behemoths by opting out before nightfall.

I can’t make you do it, but I can tell you that until you do:you’ll be nothing but a patsy in the hands of cigarette firms.

You are paying them, because you think you have chosen a recreational vice, which you think you are free to do-whereas reality shows: they’ve conditioned you to have no choice in the matter.

Does anyone out there remember James Cagney? He used to have an expression-when he was up against someone he hated big: “You dirty rat!” he liked to say. I say this now about the rats that were programmed to enlighten cigarette firms to the great potential of selling cigarettes that would force folks to keep smoking and make them feel that they could never ever stop.

you can build your right mindset. You can find a program and believe it will help. Pretend that you have stopped smoking; and be patient as you follow its instructions. When you’ve finished, you will have stopped; and once you have done that, you’ll be able to do practically anything else that you desire to achieve in your lifetime. Living life as it should be your choice, but you must know for sure every action there is always a risk that you have to consider. If you really choose to be an active smoker, then become an elegant smoker. The smoke you produce is polluting your environment, so don’t use fuel any more harm. use flameless lighter as your cigarette companion.
